I promised a new theme for the summer and here it is. Its one of my favourites so far, and I think you’ll like it too.

I’ll post more info and screenshots soon. Please go ahead and try out my demo or download Kodi for MyBB below. If you notice any issues tell me about them in the comments.

Here’s a preview of a new theme I’ve been working on: Kodi for MyBB 1.6. Its nearly done, working on Javascript / buttons / computability now.

Realize Theme Update

Here’s an update for Realize (1.6.3). It fixes a problem with the login popup and includes some multiquote support. If you want to fix the the login popup bug, but don’t care about multiquote you can make this change:

Open Realize’s global.css in the ACP
Select the Advanced Editor tab
Search and replace all mention of #quick_login with #ql_condense

Edit: There’s also a small update for Dark Intentions which fixes the white header image problem in 1.6.3.

Dark Intentions 1.6

Dark Intentions for MyBB 1.6 is finished and ready for download! Its not a straight port from the earlier version, more of an evolution. You will notice this version is a little wider and fresher looking.

NDesign 1.6

NDesign has been updated! In the attached zip you’ll find the theme’s XML file, an image folder, a plugin and a lang file. Install the XML file under the Templates and Style section of your ACP, and place all the other files the same place they are in the zip (don’t forget to activate the plugin!).

New Theme Features

I’m still working on the MyBB themes, but I wanted to take a moment show you some of what’s coming. The first 1.6 theme I finished was for a client site (HOMEundone Interiors). It features cleaner CSS / HTML, more AJAX, better buttons, a more streamlined appearance and solid computability across all major browsers. I’m going to apply these and a few other elements as I refresh the 1.4 themesover this week.

One area I’m focusing on is the header section. I tried to innovate with my latest themes (Realize and Aardvark), and my goal now is to make them even better looking and more functional. The header is obviously unique to each theme, but here’s what put together for my client’s site.

Something that’s always bugged me about forum software are smiles on the post editor. They take up a huge amount of space and usually cheese-up the page considerably. So I put them in a cupboard! (easily opened and closed with a click)

All buttons (form, postbit etc) look the same. These kind of buttons not only look better, but have provide accessibility and are easier to translate.

And that’s all for now! NDesign and Realize will be available first, for those wondering.

New MyBB Version

Congratulations to the MyBB team and greater MyBB community! Version 1.6 was released yesterday. Its only made the best forum software available even better, and I’m happy to tell you I’m in the process of updating all the Quacktacular themes (and creating some new ones!). I’m sorry that they couldn’t be released along the new version but I promise to have something to share by week’s end.

MyBB Theme Updates

I went through the four existing themes and squashed some bugs today. Most of the changes are only for Internet Explorer, but there were also some CSS issues I fixed up. They’ve been updated for MyBB 1.4.13, potentially one of the last updates before 1.6! Downloads on the MyBB page or at the bottom of this post.

I’ve been hoping to put together some new themes for a while now. As soon as a proper 1.6 beta comes out I’ll start working on it, and I promise to keep everyone updated.

Realize 1.4.10

This is an update of Realize, a theme for MyBB. It includes a few minor fixes, including a nasty bug with Firefox and the classic postbit (thanks Lee!).

Realize for MyBB

This is Realize, and its my latest free MyBB theme. Its clean and sophisticated. Realize uses special Webkit and Mozilla CSS to draw the rounded corners and drop shadows. They’ll show up in Safari, Chrome and Firefox, but degrade nicely in IE.

You can change the header image to whatever you like, or even make it rotate amongst a few different pictures. Just crop your picture to 940px / 150px and replace /images/realize/banners/banner.jpg. If you want to randomize the header, you’ll need to put a couple pictures in the banners folder and make a small CSS change. Find the class “.middle_panel” (using the theme editor in your admin panel) and change the background URL to “/images/realize/banners/random.php”. Do not make any other changes on the line, and hit save at the bottom of the page.

This theme also handles variable widths well. Just change the width of #container in your MyBB admin panel and your set. You may want to adjust the banner widths too, or simply remove the image and use a solid background colour.
