Inter-A on WordPress

I finally moved the Inter-A website over to WordPress. There were a number of advantages to the move which I’ll outline below.

  • Painless adding and editing of content.
  • Multiuser editing (students, teachers)
  • Easy plugins for extended functionality
  • Save draft content for review
  • Great SEO
  • Administration time cut in half

On top of the switch to WordPress, I also updated the theme of the site. Its a more minimalist and elegant. I also decided to bring the resolution back down 800px width. In a world with such disparity in resolution, its best practice just to keep as many people as happy as possible. In this case that meant supporting 800×600ers who were complaining about the change ever since I made it. I tried the experiment, my audience just isn’t ready for it yet.

So far I’m very happy with the move. We’ll see how it goes and wether or not its easy enough for technically challenged students and faculty to deal with.

Under the Weather…

You’ll notice the site looks a little funny right now. There are a few complications related to the WordPress 2.6 and K2 RC7 updates that I’ll work through in short order. Sorry for the trouble.

UPDATE: Downloads and everything less the photography section are working again. I’m planning something different there anyway.

WordPress Site Live

I’ve been putting together the new site for a while now. Its got a different look and is based on an excellent blogging (and content management) software called WordPress. The old site was more of a sandbox than anything. I tried different coding and CSS techniques with it, but it didn’t make for the best first impression. Hopefully perspective clients will like this look more, and perhaps my WordPress experience will prove valuable. I’m already in the process of transitioning some clients’ sites over to WP. Its great because I’m still in control of the design and back-end, but they can update the content at their own leisure.

This site is still a work in progress. I have some great plans and I’ll keeping everyone updated. Thanks for visiting!!
