N.Design

Originally a phpBB style created by N.Design Studio, this theme has been converted to a MyBB theme. It has a striking look and a few interesting features. The header comes with 10 different random header images. They can also be switched out for your own images or replaced with a static header.

    Hello!

With the release of MyBB 1.6, I was wondering if there were any plans for N.Design (1.6.x) at all please?

    Thanks :)

The theme is really nice and everything, but I don’t like the approach of HTML+CSS buttons. Why? I added two plugins, ‘Thank You’ and some Spam protector, and now the forum is showing two new empty buttons, and I don’t know what to input in the .lang files, or if I have to create variables, and where… also there’s no help nowhere to solve this situation.
From the usability standpoint, it’s a big flaw. Hope you can help me here.

Also, I would love a changelog between versions, even if it’s really small, so I know it’s worth the download and diff checking beforehand.

@lolfang: I appreciate your frustration, but I have to disagree with “…also there’s no help nowhere to solve this situation.” I do not recall any post here, on the MyBB Community Forums or any email from you asking me for help. And I think that if you asked someone who’s asked me for help, you’d find that I’m very responsive. Especially considering I develop and support these themes for free..

Your trouble with plugins is reasonably simple to fix. You do not need to edit the lang file or add any variables. All you have to do is edit the N.Design -> postbit template, remove the garbage the plugin added and insert a button like this: <a href="[LINK_YOUR_PLUGIN_USES]" rel="nofollow">TEXT_YOU_WANT_TO_DISPLAY</a>

You should insert the link the button would have in the default template. If you have trouble you’re welcome to email me from the contact page and I can make the changes for you.

I use HTML/CSS buttons for several reasons. 1) they’re much faster to create and modify 2) they reduce file sizes 3) they are more accessible 4) they enable cool features like rollover 5) they are much easier to translate 6) image based buttons are archaic, and are in the process of being phased out in many websites and webapps 7) expecting theme developers to create a PSD for each button is ridiculous, especially when CSS enables us to do so much without them.

It’s not that I don’t like the idea in general (actually, it’s great), it’s just that it isn’t throughly documented on how to create more buttons – just the translations are covered (and they work very well, thanks).
The fix you told me should have been in the readme, in this site or in MyBB forums; since it’s an issue that users might stumble sometime. That’s what I’m complaining about.
I have additional issues with this, since I cannot simply paste the URL, plugins use variables for pid, tid and uid. I hope Google can help me here so I won’t bother you =P
